U-PICK OPERATION
Cross Keys Farm has U-Pick options seasonally, including for several varieties of berries, peaches and apples. These are advertised on our Facebook and Instagram pages, as we don't have set days and hours for these operations yet. U-Pick events run until produce is fully picked or we close for the day.
The following rules apply to U-Pickers, a copy of which is provided when you arrive.
ORCHARD RULES AND REGULATIONS
We’ve got a few rules for y’all to follow. Some are in accordance with Virginia law and others ensure our orchards continue to thrive. Don’t make us send the fuzz after you (yup, that’s a peach fuzz joke).
1. This is a working farm. Please pick only in areas where you have been authorized to enter. If you’re unsure, give us a holler.
2. Remember, not all fruit is ripe at the same time—and if you pick it, you pay for it. So, choose wisely, grasshopper.
3. In accordance with the Food Safety Act, no food, drink, tobacco products or pets are allowed (yup, even that purse-sized Chihuahua or well-behaved toad you stuffed in your pocket).
4. You can pick with your hands, but not with any picking sticks (your hands are better tools, anyway.)
5. Our trees get mighty crabby if you shake them or climb on them, so be gentle.
6. Throwing fruit on the ground is totally frowned upon. In fact, throwing fruit is a bad idea all the way around. Don’t be a bruiser, and please refer to Rule #2.
7. It’s tempting to eat our juicy fruits as you pick, but thou shalt not steal. This is all-you-can-pick, not all-you-can-eat. That is, until you buy it...then, eat away!
8. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Any strays will be required to weed our expansive vegetable beds as free labor.
This is private property, and the owners and their representatives reserve the right to remove anyone at any time due to failure to comply with the rules. Cross Keys Farm and its owners are not liable for injuries incurred during your visit.
