Selling in Season At Cross Keys Farm, we grow all the produce we sell. This means we only sell fruits and vegetables in their proper seasons. You won’t find tomatoes or cantaloupes in June or lettuce and radishes in August. The beauty of that? You can count on all of our produce to be fresh-picked and locally grown. |
Are We Organic? The short answer is no, we are not organic. To become an official “organic” grower, we would have to fulfill many government requirements and regulations, which involves five years of tracking, paperwork and significant expense. While we don't mind filling out forms, we would rather be growing vegetables responsibly—and at a reasonable cost to you. However, we eat these vegetables, too. And like you, we want to eat healthy produce that isn’t raised with poison and pesticides. So we practice sustainable farming principles and best practices. We watch our plants carefully to catch issues before they become problems. Whenever possible, we use sprays labeled for organic use—and we always use the least toxic solution available. |
